Appointed Sons manager on 27th May 2015, Stevie joined the club from Stranraer.

Stevie started his senior playing career with Greenock Morton, where he played for eight years before moving to Stranraer where he stayed for six years.

Upon leaving Stranraer he joined Stenhousemuir briefly, he then joined Barrhead side Arthurlie in the junior ranks.

In 2009, he returned to Stranraer for a second time at the age of 32, and shortly thereafter took up a role as assistant manager.

In October 2012, he was appointed manager at the club. After a successful three years with Stranraer he joined up at Dumbarton.

His first season ended successfully, with survival achieved with two games to spare and two victories registered over double cup finalists Hibs.

And in his second season, he guided the club to safety again. He signed a new two-year contract in May 2017.

The 2017-18 season saw Sons reach the final of the Irn-Bru Cup, when they lost 1-0 to Inverness Caledonian Thistle at McDiarmid Park, Perth, but they were relegated from the Ladbrokes Championship after losing the play-offs final to Alloa Athletic.

Now he has built a new strong pool of players in a bid to bounce back by winning League One.
