SONS road to Hampden was blocked at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium this afternoon by Greenock Morton, who squeezed into round four by courtesy of a Brian Graham goal.
A goal-less first half saw Dumbarton cope well with Morton's attack and this continued deep into the second period.
With 15 minutes remaining, a lapse in concentration by the home defence allowed Graham to head home and take the Greenock men into the next round.
Sons' Scott Chaplain was sent-off late on following two yellow card offences.
