CHRISTIAN HAS NEW LUCKY MASCOT

Friday 14th July 2017

CHRISTIAN NADE has had a new biggest fan, and lucky mascot, since March.

He just wasn't around to see Daddy's first goal since his arrival on Tuesday night.

The Frenchman opened the scoring with a finely-struck shot in Dumbarton's 2-1 victory over Partick Thistle.

It was his first goal since the arrival of his son Joshua late last season, but although the wee one had been due to attend the match, he wasn't there in the end.

Nonetheless, Christian was delighted to get his first goal of pre-season and to help Sons to a morale-boosting win.

Speaking to www.dumbartonfootballclub.com, he said: "It's our first game at home and we've started with a win, so of course we're delighted. It always gives confidence.

"I am not yet fully fit, but I am happy with my goal and the team gave a really good performance.

"We have been very strong defensively so far in pre-season, and in the first half against Partick we could have been 3-0 ahead.

"We need to keep working away on our fitness and, after the Clydebank game, we have a few cup ties before the league starts. They will be good for us.

"I wish my son had been there to see the game. He was meant to be there, but even though he didn't make it I am still really happy to score."

Christian is now targeting another result and performance, along with more goals, when Sons play Clydebank tomorrow.

He added: "Of course we are excited about the new season coming up.

"I am not fully ready yet, but I am getting there and hopefully I can get more goals in the weeks to come."
