SONS were put to the sword at Palmerston this afternoon, losing 5-1 to Queen of the South.
Derek Holmes was the home hero with two first half goals including a controversial penalty earning Sons skipper Ben Gordon a yellow card.
Ten minutes after the break, old-hand Allan Johnston made it 3-0 before Derek Carcary gave Sons some hope converting a Paul Maxwell knockdown.
However Rocco Quinn increased the margin again before youngster Gavin Reilly went nap for Queens right on the final whistle.
