Dumbarton Football Club - Sons of the Rock 1872

SONS SAVOUR SIXTH

Sunday 20th August 2017

THROUGH one of those odd statistical circumstances that can easily occur in football, defeat for Sons on Saturday did not stop their upward rise.

In fact, as a result of Livingston's 1-3 home defeat on Saturday, the change in goal difference between them and Dumbarton means that Sons actually moved up one place to sixth in the Ladbrokes Championship table after three games.

Not that anyone here is taking that as a reason to relent. In his post-match interview, gaffer Stevie Aitken acknowledged that the 0-1 loss against Queen of the South in Dumfries on Saturday was very much a game of two halves.

Unfortunately for Sons, a slip before the break and the inability to translate pressure into goals and points in the second half made for the fist league defeat of the season.

But Dumbarton's determined players and staff are already picking themselves up from the disappointment and are starting to prepare for next weekend's clash with Dunfermline Athletic at the YOUR Radio 103FM Stadium. The kick-off will be 3pm as usual.
