TOUGH TEST AT CAPPIELOW

Friday 9th February 2018

SONS are in 5th round William Hill Scottish Cup action tomorrow and play Greenock Morton at Cappielow.

A place in the quarter-finals will be the reward for the victors in what promises to be a cracking game between the two Championship sides.

Sons boss Stevie Aitken, who will watch next Saturday's Irn Bru Cup semi-final opponents tonight when The New Saints play Bangor City, is looking forward to the game.

He said: "It's a busy couple of days for myself and Ian and tomorrow's match is one that we are keen to play. Games between Morton and ourselves are always keenly contested and with the added incentive of progression into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup will give the game another edge."

The manager confirmed though that he will be without some players for the game.

"Andy Stirling is cup-tied as is Liam Dick. Both played for their previous clubs in earlier rounds so are unavailable. Kevin Nisbet though can play, which is good news."

The last time both clubs met in the Scottish Cup was in 2010. A home game for the Sons, but it was the Greenock team who progressed to the next round following a 2-1 win. A Brian Graham double cancelled out Andy Geggan's 11th minute opener. Sons team that day was - Stephen Grindlay, Paul Nugent, Martin McNiff, James Creaney, Nicky Devlin, Andy Geggan, Ross Campbell, Craig McLeish, Alan Cook, Kieran Brannan, Jon McShane. Subs - Michael White, Iain Chisholm, Tony Wallace, Ryan McStay,
Gary Smith.

Chris McLaughlin and Grant Gallagher remain sidelined though the latter has resumed full training. Sam Wardrop will be absent as will Andy Stirling (cup tied) and Liam Dick (cup tied). Kevin Nisbet is available. Mark Stewart (pictured) is back in full training and is added to the squad but Dougie Hill is struggling.
