Dumbarton Football Club - Sons of the Rock 1872

NEW SONS PLAYER LAUNCHED

Sunday 1st April 2012

THE Sons Supporters Trust, who sponsor DFC's web images via our official website, today launch a new and improved service, replacing SonsTV with an exclusive new medium which will enhance the viewing experience of Dumbarton matches and other projects.

Our new online home of video of DFC has been renamed Sons Player and is available NOW via the following link - Sons Player.

Trust director Alan Findlay takes up the story and the reasons for the change.

He said :"SonsTV has been an enormous success since the trust launched the service way back in 2008. Gary Black, Andy Scott and Tommy Crocket all deserve enormous credit for establishing the facility and there is no doubt that their collective efforts have made DFC videos the envy of other clubs.

"And talking of effort, all three lads put in countless hours making sure that what they provide to Sons fans on behalf of the trust and DFC is of the right quality.

"That determination has led to the change we have launched today.

"SonsTV will always remain affectionately as the name we will use for matches, but we are planning to have more input on the new service, something we have been working on for a wee while and to do this we need to make a few changes."

Gary Black, who alongside Andy Scott trek up and down the country filming matches is the heart of the new changes.

Speaking to the official website today, he said : "Our initiative is a voluntary effort but we take great pride in what we do, so in discussions with our partners at Small Business Websites, we have developed the Sons Player.

"The player is fully web based meaning that fans using smartphones or tablets such as the iPad can get access to our videos without the problems we've encountered over the last wee while.

"Sons Player is also fully in line with the Scottish Football League conditions relating to match broadcasting and will drive more traffic through the club's official website.

"In making the changes we have increased security over our images and also limited the opportunity of our files being hacked into."

Meanwhile action from of yesterday's win against Forfar Athletic can now be viewed via the new service.
