Dumbarton Football Club - Sons of the Rock 1872
ACCIES PROGRESS TO FINAL
Monday 16th April 2012
MARK Docherty snatched a last gasp goal for Dumbarton Accies with a stoppage time winner in a 3-2 success at DFC Stadium tonight.
The goal which sent Bannockburn AFC out of the West of Scotland Cup means that the FPs will now be in a major final at the end of the current season.
Yet with 15 mins remaining, the Accies trailed 2-1 with goals from Currie and Campbell for the Stirlingshire team edging out Docherty's first half counter.
Andrew MacDonald lloked to have secured extra time for the Dumbarton team with a fine strike, but defender Docherty had other ideas, popping up in the 95th minute to grab the winner.
A great night for the local amateur club and the game was played in great spirit in front of a healthy crowd inside the Dumbarton Football Stadium.
Accies line up : McGilvery : Dickie, Watters, Dooley (Docherty), Packham ; Nicholson, Andrew MacDonald (Caldwell), Gourley, McHard, Sweeney, Maitland (Harvie) : Unused subs : Chris MacDonald, McBride
