JACKIE BACKS 'QUIDS FOR KIDS' INITIATIVE
Saturday 21st April 2012
JACKIE Baillie MSP has ensured that the 'Quids for Kids' initiative pioneered by the Sonstrust, Dumbarton FC and the Club's Youth Development Initiative (YDI) is the talk of the Scottish Parliament, as well as the local community.
The local MSP, who is a member of the Trust, has sponsored a motion (S4M-02655) drawing attention to the fundraising effort. And in just a couple of days, it has been signed by 15 other members.
The motion reads as follows: That the Parliament welcomes the Quids For Kids initiative, which has been created by the Sons Supporters Trust, a group of supporters of Dumbarton FC; notes that the initiative encourages all supporters to donate £1 on match day to raise funds for the club's youth development system, which aims to give young players the skills and opportunities needed to progress; believes that the management, youth coaches and staff at Dumbarton FC have worked hard to establish a football development pathway, and wishes the trust well in attempting to reach the £1,000 that it has set for the game on 21 April 2012.
Sons fans are being urged to do their bit to hit the target this afternoon, showing that in spite of difficult economic times, Dumbarton FC and the Sonstrust are determined to work together for the future of the Club, the community and young people.
The other signatories are Anne McTaggart, Helen Eadie, Hugh Henry, Bill Kidd, Neil Bibby, Jamie McGrigor, David Torrance, Richard Lyle, Patricia Ferguson, James Kelly, Mike MacKenzie, Neil Findlay, Bob Doris, Colin Beattie and Stuart McMillan.
