QUIDS FOR THE KIDS RAISES £945
Sunday 22nd April 2012
DUMBARTON FC'S youth development initiative will benefit to the tune of £945 after Saturday's Sonstrust backed 'Quids For The Kids' fundraising effort at the Dumbarton Football Stadium.
The event got off to a cracking start with a whopping £200 donation from Andy Galloway, Denise Currie, David Powell, Brian Payne and David Richardson, who form the Trust's quiz team.
The team had just claimed the title, for the second year running, as National Inter-Trust Champions — a league system competing against other supporters bodies.
As well as collecting a trophy, there is a cash prize and the donation to the fund was very welcome.
Although the final total fell a little short of the target set, Sonstrust director Alan Findlay thanked everyone who made a contribution.
He said: "It was a fantastic effort by the fans who gave very generously indeed. Getting the boost from the quiz team really set things up for the day and every penny will be put to good use developing young players at the club.
"On behalf of the trust, the club and the YDI coaches and players, I'd like to thank everyone who put their hand in their pocket to make a donation, including the Airdrie United fans."
Andy Galloway is pictured below handing over a cheque for £200 to youth scout Alan McDevitt and coach David Lyden. He is holding the quiz trophy.
