Dumbarton Football Club - Sons of the Rock 1872
CO-CHAIRMAN LOOKS FORWARD
Tuesday 8th May 2012
MISSION accomplished, that's the verdict from Sons co-Chairman Colin Hosie as he reflected on a successful season for Dumbarton.
Speaking to the official website on Saturday evening in the midst of the awards celebrations, Colin was upbeat about the campaign just completed and confident about getting through the play-offs.
He said: "At the start of the season we aimed high and looked to finish at least in a promotion play-off position and in that respect it's job done.
"Alan Adamson and the players deserve a lot of credit for getting us to third in the division and by any standard we've had a good campaign."
Despite a shaky start to the season — two heavy defeats against Airdrie United and Stirling Albion — Colin was always confident that the campaign would be positive.
"We were in a battle right from the opening day of the season, but a combination of resilience and the players desire helped as they began to gel as a unit," he said.
"What happens next with respect to the play-offs is anyone's guess, but I'm sure Alan and the lads will not be fazed with the task ahead.
"Games against Arbroath have been high scoring affairs in the season just finished as both teams adopt a positive attitude. Wednesday's game should be a cracker."
Colin is also hopeful that the Dumbarton public will turn up to support the team tomorrow night.
"Our supporters have, as always been brilliant this season," he said, "and they have been drumming up support via our Facebook and Twitter pages as well as spreading the word amongst friends.
"It would be good to see the stadium with as many people as possible for the Lichties match. A big support creates a great atmosphere and the players will, I'm sure, respond."
