“THE SIGNINGS HAVE BEEN TERRIFIC.” – ANDY GRAHAM HAPPY WITH START TO TRAINING

Thursday 25th June 2015

DUMBARTON captain Andy Graham has seen a manager and almost an entire team depart the Sons since the end of last season however he reckons that normal service at the club will remain.

Boss Ian Murray headed for St Mirren last month and Graham was amongst only a handful of players remaining under new manager Stephen Aitken however the 31 year old reckons that the change will do the club good.

Graham said: “There are only 5 of us from last season so there are a lot of new boys to be bedded in. It is good in a way that the new manager has been as pro-active as it has freshened things up for those of us that have stayed.”

“Football moves in cycles and it was time for change at the club after some good years under Ian Murray.”

Aitken has brought in 9 new team-mates for Graham so far and the former Stirling Albion, Hamilton Accies and Morton centre back said: “The signings have been terrific.

"The new boss has got some momentum behind us already with the way both he and his assistant Stephen Farrell have gone about things.”

“You look at the squad assembled already and it looks strong. We are all getting to know each other and the good feeling in the squad will grow the more we train and play together.”

Graham added: “This squad can ensure that Dumbarton are the best part time team in Scotland again. We have done it for three seasons already and it would be great to make that four in a row.”

“That is the first target and if we can drag ourselves into the middle of some full time teams like we did a couple of seasons ago then that would be a terrific.
