Dumbarton Football Club - Sons of the Rock 1872

Friday 24th November 2017

SONS get back to league action tomorrow following a fortnight of cup football and it's a trip to East End Park to play Dunfermline Athletic.

Tomorrow's referee is Nick Walsh who has been in charge of a Sons match this season already - our 2-1 win against Brechin City back in September. Assistants are Stuart Stevenson and Drew Kirkland.

Sons' record against Dunfermline Athletic is patchy. Of the 96 games between the clubs, Dumbarton have 24 wins to the Pars 53 (19 games drawn). We have to go back to 2013 to find our last win against the Fifers, a 4-3 victory with goals from Chris Turner, Scott Agnew and a Steven McDougall double. This was a milestone match for Mark Gilhaney, who made his 100th appearance for Dumbarton.

Sons' biggest win against the Pars was in November 1982. We won 3-0, thanks to goals form David Stevenson and two from Ray Blair. This result equalled a similar scoreline in 1976 when John Bourke scored a double alongside a strike by Ian Wallace. Both wins were at East End Park!

Quite a few players have played for both clubs. In recent times we've had Gregor Buchanan and current skipper Andy Dowie play for the Pars. Owen Coyle played for both clubs as did Craig Dargo, John Cushley, Andy Geggan, Robert Thomson and Kyle Hutton. Andy Stirling too had a spell with the Fife club.

Sons boss Stevie Aitken could have the services of Dimitris Froxylias (pictured) following his return from injury and Chris McLaughlin is making progress and will travel with the squad.
