Dumbarton Football Club - Sons of the Rock 1872

Friday 5th January 2018

SONS continue with the second half of the season with a difficult game against Dunfermline Athletic at the YOUR Radio 103FM Stadium tomorrow.

The Pars sit in 4th place in the Ladbrokes Championship and will be confident after two back-to-back wins against Falkirk and Brechin City.

For Dumbarton, manager Stevie Aitken knows that matches against Dunfermline during his spell as boss have been tough.

He said : "We've played Dunfermline six times and as yet we've not managed to win against them.

"It's a stat I'd obviously like to change! Games against them have always produced goals. I'm told that the matches have produced so far an average of 4 per game.

"We took a solid point at Palmerston on Tuesday and but for a terrific Alan Martin save we could have managed to win the game, so we go into tomorrow's encounter with confidence."

John Beaton will referee tomorrow's match and will be assisted by Kylie Cockburn and Colin McAlpine.

Ninety-seven games have been played between the two clubs and the Pars have the upper hand in wins - 53 to Sons 24. 20 matches have ended in stalemate. Brian Gallagher (157 apps & 47 goals) is Dumbarton's leading goalscorer against the Fife club, and from the current squad the player who hs made the most appearances against them is David Smith with 5.

Kyle Hutton, who is in contract talks with manager Stevie Aitken with both looking to extend his stay at the Sons, will be missing from tomorrow's squad as he continues to serve a suspension. Sam Wardrop who was absent against Queen of the South remains out, as does Mark Stewart and Grant Gallagher. Dimitris Froxylias also won't be considered tomorrow. Kyle Prior is likely to go out on loan in the next few days and this will be confirmed soon.
