CLUB STATEMENT: DELIGHT AS DUFFY DEAL IS DONE

Tuesday 28th May 2019

AS has been reported by the press and here on the club website recently, talks have been taking place between Jim Duffy and the board of directors with a view to next season.

These related to what budget could be afforded next season, given restricted resources, and how to make it sufficient to achieve the mutual aim of making progress in League One.

The main issues have now been ironed out and we are delighted to confirm that Jim will continue to manage us in season 2019/20.

Performances and results since the turn of the year, together with Jim's vast experience, convince us that we have the right man for the job.

Although the budget has been the subject of careful discussions until now, the manager has talked to players in principle during the interim period with a view to next season.

Now that we have established what is there to be worked with as a foundation, we are in a position formally to offer deals to players. Jim is beginning this process.

We are grateful for financial support from well-wishers, continued backing from our stadium sponsors C&G Systems, and the involvement of all who give Dumbarton FC unstinting and loyal assistance.

Now it is over to YOU, the fans.

Season tickets for the 2019/20 campaign remain on sale and we would encourage our supporters to buy one if they have not already done so.

Details are as per previous publicity – and remember, the more season tickets we sell, the more money becomes available to help DFC progress.

Although we have now agreed on a player budget, your input remains absolutely vital to the club as it strives to be the best it can be. We will give ourselves the best chance of progressing with your support, financially and vocally.

Also remember – under-12s go FREE if they register for a season ticket!

On a practical note, the C&G Systems Stadium will be open from 9.30am to 1pm on Wednesday and Friday of this week.

Supporters intending to visit during this time, and over the close season, should be aware of underground gasworks taking place near the stadium, which mean that the junction of Greenhead Road and Glasgow Road is completely shut off to traffic.

This is scheduled to be the case until early July, until when supporters who use that route should plan an alternative way to the stadium.

The club extends sincere thanks to its supporters for the patience that they have shown during the last few weeks.

Let's #SupportOurSons – together!

Further reaction from the club will follow in due course. We will keep you updated on squad movements as and when they can be confirmed.
