DUMBARTON LOOK FOR BREAK

Tuesday 25th February 2020

AFTER seeing Saturday's game with Forfar Athletic called off, Dumbarton return to match action tonight with Clyde the visitors in a rearranged game.

The Cumbernauld side's visit to the C&G Systems Stadium was postponed last month and is the first of two scheduled midweek assignments for Jim Duffy's men.

At the second time of asking, Sons will look for a response to the disappointing defeat away to Montrose 10 days ago.

The gaffer and his players have continued to work hard on the training pitch and are anxious for something to go their way, a rare occurrence in 2020 to date.

The manager said: "We haven't had many breaks since the turn of the year, but you have to work for those and we will continue to do so.

"We put in a good shift in training, overseen by our goalkeeping coach Jamie Ewings, on Saturday after the game was called off.

"That must translate into hard work in match action and although it is the first of four games in the next 11 days, we know how hard we must graft tonight.

"Assistant manager Barry Smith took advantage of the handy opportunity to watch our next two opponents, Clyde and Raith Rovers, in action against each other on Saturday.

"He has come back with useful info on each side, but we will deal with Raith at the weekend. It is all about facing Clyde this evening."

The team news is as it was ahead of the Forfar game. Kyle Hutton remains out but Isaac Layne returns to the squad. It is hoped that Rico Quitongo and Joe McKee will be available having had extra recovery time.

Referee Lloyd Wilson will be in charge of his second Sons home game in a row tonight, and will be assisted by John McCrossan and Robert Thomson.

Tonight's edition of our award-winning matchday programme, Sons View, will be the one published for the game's original date together with a 12-page update. It will cost the usual price of 2.50.

All supporters should enter the stadium via the east turnstiles (closest to Castle Road) and pre-match access to Bar 72 will be available to all. Clyde supporters will be taken through to the away end prior to kick-off.

There is no pitch inspection planned ahead of the game's 7.45pm kick-off. Should this change, we will inform our supporters via our website and social media channels.
