CLUB TACKLES EFFECTS OF SUSPENSION

Friday 20th March 2020

We find ourselves in an unprecedented and unforeseen situation.

The decision of the SPFL/SFA announced on Friday 13th March to suspend all fixtures immediately is completely understandable, however, the financial implications of this situation on our football club are significant.

We rely, as every Scottish football club at our level does, on gate income as a main source of revenue.

Therefore, the cancellation and/or postponement of home fixtures is a significant issue, particularly as we continue to incur a large amount of costs such as wages, council tax, etc.

We are however grateful for the decision from the SFA on Wednesday afternoon to release funds early and immediately to all clubs.

We are keeping up to date with the Government assistance to businesses as best we can in an everchanging situation.

Obviously in line with Government guidance this has resulted in having to cancel other fundraising events that were planned.

We recognise that this may be a challenging time for many people, however the club have been contacted by a number of fans sympathetic to the financial situation we face, and asking how they can make a financial contribution at this time.

We are working on what the options for fans to help will be considering all the current restrictions in place.

A board meeting has taken place and we will release details of how to donate to the club on our website and social media pages as soon as possible.

We hope that everyone remains healthy, and we ask all fans to follow the official advice and look out for the more vulnerable members of the community during this very difficult time.

A meeting has also taken place with our League One colleagues, the SFA and SPFL. We received informative updates including medical view from Dr John McLean of the SFA, a summary of the UEFA position and SPFL position from Neil Doncaster and an SFA update from Rod Petrie.

Clubs also asked questions and shared thoughts as well as committing to do all we can working together to get through these challenging times.
