Dumbarton Football Club - Sons of the Rock 1872

CLUB STATEMENT

Tuesday 24th March 2020

LAST week we approached our players, and staff including our fantastic and extremely loyal ground staff, with a proposal to defer half of their wages to assist us through the shut down of the League.

The players were given a cooling off period ending yesterday, this was to allow anyone who didn't feel comfortable speaking up to talk to the Manager in confidence.

The period has passed and the changes have been implemented.

Chairman John Steele said: “The players and staff supporting us here is a great help and very much appreciated. I really do value their cooperation and it says a lot about them both as professionals and as people that they have been agreeable on this.”

He went on to say: “Our supporters have also been sensational.

“All plaudits have to go to them. The response we've had to the crowdfunding appeal has been absolutely fantastic.

“We're going to have to encourage them to keep helping out and keep supporting the club and the initiatives we are set to launch over the coming weeks.”

We will continue to update supporters in an ever changing situation, as and when we have the information to communicate.

John finished by saying: “I'm delighted to see the club getting the plaudits for taking the first steps, and I'm delighted to see the local community and the wider football community supporting the club at its time of need.”
