Dumbarton Football Club - Sons of the Rock 1872

THE GAFFER'S HOPING FOR LIFT-OFF

Thursday 21st May 2020

SONS boss Jim Duffy has thanked Dumbarton supporters for the backing they have given him, making it clear that both he and the Club are keen to stick together despite the current difficulties.

Like all of us, Jim is hoping that we can achieve 'lift-off' again soon, once the current pandemic is under control and the game comes out of its necessary hibernation.

The gaffer made his comments in an interview with the Lennox Herald newspaper.

Regarding the near future, the Dumbarton manager explained the difficulty of the current situation and the desire of everyone at the Club to make progress on contracts as soon as that becomes possible.

"I've just been honest with the players that there's nothing anyone can do, we're not in a position to offer them anything when we have no guarantee of income at any stage in the near future," he said.

Dumbarton FC vice chairman Colin Hose commented: "We are delighted to have Jim on board. His experience and commitment speaks for itself. He is a huge asset to the game, and to us as a Club.

"Obviously things are uncertain at the moment, because no one can be quite sure when and how the game will get going again.

"Here at Dumbarton we are hugely grateful for the loyalty our players and management have demonstrated, and we will do everything to make the best of the situation moving forward.

"The response of our supporters has also been magnificent, and has been key to helping keep the Sons afloat.

"Our aim, obviously, is to be in the best shape possible for when football is able to come out of lockdown."
