Dumbarton Football Club - Sons of the Rock 1872

Saturday 17th October 2020

DUMBARTON have opened their 2020/21 League One fixtures with a goalless draw away to Forfar Athletic.

After a seven-month hiatus from league action, Sons were indebted to keeper Kevin Dabrowski (pictured) who had two outstanding saves in the opening seven minutes.

Having done brilliantly to keep out John Robertson's early volley, the on-loan Hibs player then stopped Jack MacKenzie.

The Loons player then thought he had scored from the rebound but the offside flag was up.

Sons settled after that, and a trialist winger was unlucky with a shot which the home keeper did well to turn away from goal.

The game grew scrappier as it went on, with chances harder to create. A solid defensive effort from Dumbarton ensured the opening day clean sheet.

Sons' next game is a quick rematch with Clyde at home, this time on league business after the Bully Wee's victory in the Betfred Cup last week.
