DUMBARTON SET TO GO AGAIN

Thursday 1st April 2021

JUST 46 hours after the end of Tuesday's game against Falkirk, Dumbarton are back in action tonight with a home game against Airdrieonians.

Having taken a very decent point against the Bairns, Sons are looking to build on that result. Victory this evening will bring them within a point of Airdrie with a game in hand.

The Diamonds are chasing their first point since returning to action, having lost their most recent fixture 2-0 to Cove Rangers on Tuesday evening.

Dumbarton manager Jim Duffy knows the toll that the fixture schedule is taking on his players, but is optimistic they can turn it on tonight.

He said: "The schedule is as demanding as anything I have seen in all my years in football, but our players have never moaned.

"They have continued to work hard and we saw the benefits of that on Tuesday with a battling point away to the league leaders.

"I want to see a continuation of that tonight. The schedule is tough for us but it is the same for Airdrie as well, so it is a level playing field in that respect.

"We will give chances to different players again, as we will have to with things being what they are. However, it will be a team that we feel is capable of getting a result."

One thing that can give Dumbarton confidence ahead of the game is that they were 2-0 winners over Airdrie when the sides previously met back in October.

Once again, they will be without Joshua Bradley-Hurst and Daniel Church for tonight's game.

Isaac Layne will face a late assessment on his fitness after taking a knock on Tuesday while Rico Quitongo will once again be checked.

Having started on the bench on Tuesday, there could be starts for the likes of Stuart Carswell, Ross Forbes, Nat Wedderburn and Jaime Wilson tonight.

The game is of course behind closed doors, and details of how to stream the game are as per our previous story. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.

Gavin Ross is the referee for tonight's game, and will have assistance from Paul O'Neill and Ian Hart.
