EXCLUSIVE: SYVERTSEN GLAD TO STAY IN SCOTLAND

Thursday 8th July 2021

KRISTOFFER SYVERTSEN was rooting around for his passport when one phone call changed everything.

The striker admits that he wasn't sure he'd be staying in Scottish football after three years with Clyde came to an end after last season.

It led him to consider where his future lay - his native Norway, Scotland or somewhere else entirely.

In the end, Scotland won. Dumbarton gaffer Stevie Farrell got in touch, and everything is now tied up for him to be a Sons player for the season ahead.

Speaking to www.dumbartonfootballclub.com, Kristoffer said: "I'm very excited. I didn't really expect at the beginning that I would be coming back to Scotland.

"But as soon as Dumbarton got in touch I thought I would give it another go. Stevie Farrell has been brilliant with me and I'm looking forward to it.

"I was looking around to see where I would get opportunities and then I got to know about Dumbarton's interest.

"There is a new atmosphere around the club with forward-thinking people, and there's a good, safe environment around the place.

"The people here take good care of you and support you, so it was an easy decision.

"I've enjoyed playing in Scotland. I've faced some hard times but through it all, I've met some nice people, faced some good players and I really enjoyed winning promotion with Clyde.

"I'm looking forward to facing them in our first league game."

In terms of what Sons can expect from their new signing, Kristoffer is keeping his cards close to his chest.

However, he's hopeful he can be part of a successful season for Dumbarton as a team.

He added: "Hopefully we can look towards the upper part of the league and see if we can compete in that part of the table.

"Personally, I think that the score will take care of itself. I have a goal target in mind but I don't want to say what it is right now.

"I'll be trying to work towards it and get games in. I know the potential I have and I think Dumbarton is a good place to get back playing football.

"Hopefully I will show what I can give."
