DUMBARTON SET FOR FALKIRK CHALLENGE

Friday 7th January 2022

DUMBARTON'S first road trip of 2022 takes place tomorrow - and is a return to the scene of a good victory earlier in the season.

Falkirk are the opposition as Sons look to repeat their 2-1 victory at the Falkirk Stadium in September to hopefully move up the table.

However, with the Bairns having won 3-0 on their visit to Dumbarton in November, manager Stevie Farrell is only too aware how tough the challenge will be.

Under new manager Martin Rennie, Falkirk too have aspirations of finishing the day in a higher league position, but the Sons gaffer hopes for a result if last week's workrate remains.

Stevie said: "We will get nowhere at all by feeling sorry for ourselves. It is up to us and us alone to get results put on the board.

"Tomorrow's game will undoubtedly be difficult, but we are returning to the scene of a very good victory earlier in the season and we must be confident we can do it again.

"The workrate against Airdrie, when we were down to the bare bones in terms of player availability, remained high and we must work as hard as that against Falkirk too.

"If we do that, continue to be as defensively sound as we were for most of the Airdrie game, and take chances when they come along, we can afford to be confident."

Long-term injury victims Ryan McGeever and Kristoffer Syvertsen continue to miss out and won't feature at the Falkirk Stadium tomorrow.

We will also be without our supporters, as due to current public health regulations, only home supporters who have been successful in a ballot will be able to attend the Falkirk Stadium.

Live streaming is available to purchase as per our previous story.

Stevie added: "Not having our supporters there will be a blow for us, but we know they'll be with us in spirit and we'll be looking to give them something to cheer at home."

There will also be live Twitter commentary on our feed @DumbartonFC.

Calum Scott will referee tomorrow's game, with assistance from Dougie Potter and Chris Rae.
