Midfielder Ross was the first Sons player in place for the truncated season, having signing an 18-month deal at the end of the transfer window in January following his release by Forfar Athletic.

He obviously likes it at what is now the C&G Systems Stadium as, including matches as a trialist, he is with the club for a fourth time.

The first of those was on loan from Motherwell in 2009, helping the club to lift what was then the SFL Third Division title.

He then played one game as a trialist in 2013, away to Partick Thistle, following his departure from Fir Park, but he then signed for Dunfermline Athletic.

His second time as a signed player was the 2018-19 season, when he was team captain in the later part of the campaign.

The former Scottish Under 21 internationalist has signed a deal with Sons which will run until the end of season 2020/21.

Ross started his career with Motherwell where he played over 70 times including in European competition. He had a spell on loan to Dumbarton in 2009 where he was part of the team that won the 3rd Division title in 2008-09.

After leaving Motherwell, Ross signed for Partick Thistle in 2012 and was a part of their 1st division title winning squad and remained at Firhill until January 2014 before transferring to Dunfermline Athletic.

Ross signed for Morton in the summer of 2015 and made over 100 appearances for the Greenock side. He was named in the PFA Championship team of the year in 2016/17 and was also on the shortlist for the player of the year award.
